I’ve been playing lunch bunch basketball (LBB) for about 2 years now, and it’s one of the things I look forward to during the week. I get a chance to compete (or as coach says “strive together”) with some guys who love the game just as much as I do. Normally, with pickup games, there’s confusion about which team is up next to play or there’s arguing that takes away from the game, but we don’t really have that with LBB. There’s a system that handles rotations, so everyone gets playing time, and the running clock keeps disagreements to a minimum. Add that to the fact that there’s someone that delivers a good message twice a week, and it’s definitely one of the best sports environments around in Baton Rouge. I’ve seen guys open up about personal challenges and some have even overcome those same challenges through this ministry. We have fun, we build each other…we really enjoy our newfound community.
