Istrouma Sports is a gospel-centered sports ministry of Istrouma Baptist Church that intentionally creates opportunities to glorify God, make disciples, and redeem sports.
Our ministry thrives from those who volunteer their time to help us do sports a different way.
Coach
Istrouma Sports is dependent on volunteer coaches. The number of teams in each division is determined by the number of coaches signed up to volunteer.
We equip our coaches so they feel prepared and comfortable in this environment. Please don’t hesitate to coach if you have never done so before.
Our volunteers will be expected to meet the coaches’ requirements and follow the coaches’ covenant throughout the season.
Indicate on your child’s registration and submit an application below if you are interested in volunteering as a head, assistant, or bench coach this season. Sign up as a head coach on registration to save some money!
Istrouma Sports has a four-step vetting process for head, assistant, and bench coaches.
Bench coaches must go through the vetting process because they’ll be on the sidelines with kids.
Applicants may not be asked to coach.
1. Application
All coaches must submit an application each season.
2. Background Check
Our background checks expire every two years. All new coaches must fill out a background check. Returning coaches will be notified if their form has expired.
3. Discussion
Istrouma will follow up with coaches once forms have been submitted.
4. Meeting
It is imperative for all volunteer coaches to attend one of our development meetings held on the first Saturday practice of each season. Coaches will benefit from discussion with others in their age divisions. Coaches will learn about practice tips, fundamentals of our sports ministry, and division rules. Coaches who are unable to attend will need to watch a recap of the meeting and submit a report.

GAME DAY HOSPITALITY
85% of our participants do not attend Istrouma Baptist Church.
25% of our participants do not have a church home.
We appreciate volunteers who make every family that steps onto our campus feel welcomed and connected.
Our hospitality roles include:
• Cart Driver = transport families from the parking lots to the ball fields
• 2 volunteers for baseball and football
• Concessionaire = prepare food and sell concessions
• 2-3 volunteers for baseball and football
• 1-2 volunteers for basketball and volleyball
• Greeter = smile, hand out fan mail, and direct families where to go
• 1-2 volunteers for all leagues

Volleyball
Saturday Games: October 10 – November 14 @ 9:00-1:50
Mon/Tue/Thu Games: October 12/13/15 and November 9/10/12 @ 5:45-8:00
If you are unable to volunteer on Saturday, you can sell concessions during a practice night.
